Iran, Europe to broaden customs coop.
President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Foroud Asgari in a meeting with the Norwegian ambassador to Tehran, said that customs cooperation between Iran and Europe will be promoted.

While appreciating the positive approach of the ambassador towards Iran’s customs systems especially electronic system, he said, “increasing the level of cooperation with the European countries in order to facilitate trade and business activities has been put atop agenda of IRICA and in this respect, IRICA has held constructive talks with Austria and France as well.”

Elsewhere in his remarks, IRICA president placed special emphasis on increasing customs cooperation and exchanging trade and business activities between the two countries of Iran and Norway and added, “since IRICA carries out customs procedures especially exchanging information and technical knowhow systematically, establishing cooperation with Norway can promote trade exchanges and growth of bilateral economic cooperation to a great extent.”

He termed signing and sealing customs cooperation agreement between Iran and Norway with regard to the exchange of technical knowhow as “constructive and appropriate strategy” and said, “accelerating speed of goods clearance has been put atop agenda of IRICA, based on which, we can embark on increasing the volume of mutual trade exchanges.”

For his part, Norwegian ambassador to Tehran pointed to the successful implementation of mechanization program in IRICA and said, “Norway is interested in expanding and promoting trade relationship with the Islamic Republic of Iran eagerly.”

Currently, Norwegian government has established good and fair interaction with the Islamic Republic of Iran especially in economic terms, so that this amicable relationship can affect political ties of the two countries as well.”

In conclusion, the ambassador pointed to the key role of IRICA in promoting and expanding economic relationship between the two countries and said, “with the coordination made in this regard, customs cooperation between the two countries will be expanded in future.”
